RIGF 2023: Digital Future and Internet Security

The first day of RIGF 2023 ended with the sessions “Digital Technologies of the Future” and “Accountability Of Suspicion: How To Fight For The Safety Of Information”.

Moderator of the session “Digital Technologies of the Future” Elena Suragina (MTS PJSC) invited the participants to consider scientific developments, innovations and already implemented projects in various industries and areas of application - medicine, education, public administration, urban infrastructure - and share information about their projects, about new opportunities, main tasks, difficulties and prospects for further development.

During the discussion, session participants Yuri Vasiliev (Centre for Diagnostics and Telemedicine of the Moscow Department of Health), Maxim Fedorov (Russian Academy of Sciences), Andrey Ignatiev (ANO "Center for Global IT-Cooperation"), Mikhail Shraybman (Octopussy - Integrator web 3.0) and Anastasia Pokrovskaya (MIPT) touched upon the problems of a comprehensive assessment of the impact of digital innovations on the economy and the socio-humanitarian sphere, issues of regulation and standardization.

Yuri Vasilyev spoke about the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies using the example of the Unified Digital Healthcare Platform of Moscow, and Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Maxim Fedorov spoke about the introduction of AI in the chemical industry and pharmaceuticals.

Anastasia Pokrovskaya shared her experience of digital transformation in business education: the introduction of interactive communication, gamification of the educational process and Big Data- based learning, while Andrey Ignatiev touched upon the philosophical aspects of AI and spoke about the impact of the technosphere on humans.

Mikhail Shraybman tried to look into the future of the Internet and spoke about Web 3.0 technology and the possibilities of its application in various fields.

The scale of dissemination of fake information on the web today can be called without exaggeration unprecedented - it's not just about fake information as such, the main danger to users is posed by planned information campaigns aimed at polarizing society. The moderator of the session “Accountability Of Suspicion: How To Fight For The Safety Of Information” Anna Sutyrina (NRU HSE) suggested that the session participants answer the question of how the expert community can unite Runet and jointly respond to such challenges? Timofey Vee (ANO Dialog), Elena Zinovieva (MGIMO MFA), Valery Komarov (Department of Information Technologies of Moscow), Rustam Sagdatulin (ROCIT) spoke about their experience in countering fakes on the Internet.

Elena Zinovieva noted that as technologies develop, tools for influencing users (social networks, online games, AI) also develop, and regulation of inaccurate information and activities of large digital platforms may become an important initiative within the framework of the forthcoming Global Digital Compact.

Valery Komarov spoke about how DIT repels information attacks and blocks websites that imitate government portals.

Timofey Vi added that against the backdrop of the total digitalization of society, the absolutely free and unregulated Internet creates fertile ground for abuses against ordinary users. And now it is necessary to determine how much the state and society should interfere and regulate the Internet space in order to ensure their security.
